Each year St. Andrew's parishioners participate in a Habitat for Humanity workday, usually in September or October. We work on a house that is being built for a family in the Dallas metroplex. It is truly amazing the progress that can be made on the construction of a house in a single day by people who mostly have no building experience. Even more amazing is seeing the transformation of an entire run-down neighborhood by the construction of dozens of Habitat homes. It transforms neighborhoods and it tranforms lives.

Almost everyone is capable of participating at a Habitat for Humanity workday. You don't need special skills ... most people can use a hammer, and even if you can't, you can help provide nails and tools to the rest of the team. Participating in this type of ministry is a very hands-on way of serving the Lord and helping His people.

The family who will live in the home also participate in its construction, and it's great to work with the people who will live in the house.
