A second engineer came to look at our church building
last week. A hole that has been dug on the western side of the church has found ground water below the church which is believed to be causing some foundation problems. It is thought that this problem can be addressed by placing a sump pump below the church to remove the ground water.
The choir loft has been found to be structurally sound, and there will be some work done to level the floor in the choir loft. At this stage, the plan is to move the font forward out of the bapistry for a while, so a partition can be temporarily constructed across the back of the
church to seal off the bapistry. This will allow construction work to take place in the bapistry area of the church to level the choir loft floor.
As more details are known, we will include them on the
parish website.

Background:
Earlier this year, we noticed that
the choir loft and bapistry area of the church were sinking. The choir
loft was temporarily closed until an engineering inspection found the
building to be structurally sound. We are working with engineers and
our insurance company to identify and fix the building structure.
